The Heidrich Radiation Oncology Center at Methodist is Central Illinois' leader in cancer treatments. At the Heidrich Center, state-of-the-art technology and a highly skilled, caring staff are centered on you and your family. The Heidrich Center was the first treatment center in Central Illinois to use high-dose-rate brachytherapy (the use of radioactive material to provide radiation treatment). We were also the first cancer center in the Midwest to offer prostate seeding implants. Today, the Heidrich Radiation Oncology Center at Methodist provides a variety of radiation cancer treatments. Our affiliation with the internationally known National Cancer Institute offers our patients the latest in cancer research trials.

Breast Health Center

Women diagnosed with breast cancer get the support of the Methodist Breast Health Navigator.  Her role is to help you through the healthcare system as you make decisions about tests and treatment options. The breast health navigator offers the latest treatment information and support services to women and their families. She also provides pre-operation teaching and follow-up services…provides wigs, head coverings, camisoles and prostheses to women through grants from the Susan G. Komen Foundation…and coordinates the WomenAware support group for breast cancer survivors.

Downstate PET Center

Methodist is home to the Gemini GXL PET/CT Scanner, using advanced PET (Positron Emission Tomography) technology. PET's unique imaging capabilities help doctors diagnose different types of cancer and guide physicians to the most beneficial therapy. PET scans help doctors determine the extent of cancer, detect recurring cancer early, and monitor the response to therapy.

Bone Marrow Transplant Program

Methodist is home to the only Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant Program in downstate Illinois - and one of the few FACT-accredited programs in the country. This treatment is helping win the battle against certain cancers, such as lymphomas and Hodgkin's disease.

Prostate Screening
