Area of Greatest Need: Unrestricted Gifts

Make a donation to the Methodist Foundation

Methodist Medical Center Foundation’s Board of Directors consists of community leaders who are very familiar with the needs of the tri-county area a well as the mission and capabilities of Methodist Medical Center.

Many donors to the Methodist Medical Center Foundation choose to make their gift unrestricted, which allows the gift to be used in an area where strategic planning has shown a need. Grant requests for funds are made by operational departments and reviewed by the Foundation Board before funds are made available. Sometimes the Foundation funds fill a funding gap, and sometimes the Foundation funds the entire project.

Interest earned on the "unrestricted" funds is used to support the operations of the Foundation.

Unrestricted funds are appreciated because they allow the flexibility to meet unexpected needs.

Methodist Medical Center provides millions of dollars in charity care each year for people who are unable to pay for their medical treatment. It’s important to understand that Foundation monies are NOT used to pay for hospital charity care. Hospital care for patients who cannot afford to pay for their services is provided as part of the hospital mission through the hospital’s "Community Care" program, or in some cases, it may be paid for through grant monies that come from other organizations for that purpose.
