Funds for Patient & Family Support

Patient Assistance Fund
Sometimes Methodist patients have significant needs upon discharge from the hospital. Perhaps they cannot afford their needed medications; they may live alone and need food for a couple of days after they get home; they might need transportation from the hospital to their residence; maybe they need a family member to travel to help them, but the family member can’t afford to make the trip.
Donors to the Patient Assistance Fund provide Methodist with the financial resources to offer non-medical help to our patients who need it. This extends the Methodist culture of caring out into the community. Many Methodist employees donate to the Patient Assistance Fund.
Methodist Inn Fund
When patients are transferred to Methodist from an outlying hospital, family members may need overnight accommodations in order to stay near their loved one. Methodist Inn provides hospitality at no cost, with a private room and bath, lounge area, beverages, and continental breakfast for as long as necessary. This service relieves the stress on the family and allows them to concentrate on providing support and attention to their patient. Donors to the Methodist Inn make it possible for this service to be offered.
Hospice Fund
Many patients have received support on their end-of-life journey from the caring professionals and volunteers who work in the Methodist Hospice program. Hospice teams provide emotional support, patient care, palliative care, and spiritual support to the patient and to their family members while the patient remains in their home surrounded by those who love them. An annual memorial service celebrates the lives of all hospice patients who have passed on during that year and brings their families together for mutual support. Donors to the Hospice Fund have the satisfaction of knowing that this service is available to all who need it.
Pastoral Care Fund
Methodist Medical Center has always recognized that spiritual health is critical to physical healing. Our Pastoral Care staff is an interfaith team of clergy who are trained in hospital ministry. Pastoral services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is partially funded by Foundation dollars. The Howard B. Johnson chapel on the first floor of the hospital was funded through Foundation resources.
